When we study the Bible and pray, we are drawn more deeply into God’s own saving story, a story that continues today!
[tab title=”Bible Studies”]We believe that Christian education and growth should be a lifelong endeavor–not just one reserved for the kids. We invite all adults to join us in the journey to enrich our ongoing Christian education by attending one or all of our adult education programs. Feel free to drop in any time and no prior Bible experience is required!

Each group will be limited to 10 people, and each session will include:
1) Time to check in with each other about how we are doing.
2) Discussion of a reading in spirituality which will be handed out ahead of time.
3) Prayer and Focus on ways to live out our discipleship of Jesus.
[tab title=”Faith & Wisdom Series”]Once or twice a year, usually on a Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon, we bring in a theologian or other interesting speakers to address topics regarding how our Christian faith relates to the issues and challenges of our world. These sessions are open to all ages and we welcome members and nonmembers alike.

Sunday School – Age 3 – 5th Grade
Sunday School for children is at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday, September through May. Children can be dropped off in the Sunday School rooms, in the church’s preschool area, downstairs from the Fellowship Hall. Children experience God through music, loving teachers, and a Bible-based, age-appropriate curriculum designed just for them! At around 10:15 a.m., the children join their families for Holy Communion and the conclusion of the 9:45 service.
First Communion Classes
During first communion classes, we explore the meaning and history of communion, what it means to forgive and be forgiven, and what happens when we share this special meal each Sunday. We meet twice, once on a Sunday, and the following Saturday, when we bake the bread that will be used for communion in worship the next day. The children then receive their first communion at the 11:00 a.m. service. If you would like for your child to participate, please email Pastor Yvette.
Confirmation, 6th – 8th Grade
In the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), confirmation ministry helps a student identify more deeply with the Christian community and participate more fully in its mission. We at Faith Lutheran Church are dedicated to this goal by offering confirmation classes for students entering the 6th, 7th, 8th or 9th grades. Our Confirmation program is two years long and includes classroom instruction, retreats, a week-long summer camp shared with other students from the Washington, D.C. area, social ministry and other peer-group opportunities. Faith’s confirmation program has four primary emphases:
• Experiencing the faith community
• Living a life of discipleship
• Knowing and understanding the faith
• Personal growth in relationship with Christ
Confirmation classes are typically held on the 3rd Sundays of every month, from 3 – 5:30 p.m.
Vacation Bible School
Every summer, Faith hosts a week-long, half-day Vacation Bible School program for children in Pre-K (potty-trained) through 5th grade. VBS is staffed by members of the church and parent volunteers, and brings the stories of the Bible to life through songs, crafts, games and other hands-on learning activities.
