Meet Our Teachers

Carrie Field, Director
(Joined in 2014)
Carrie Field has an undergrad and Masters in Social Work, familiarity with the Reggio-Emilia program from leading play-based and child-directed therapy, has managed local social work programs including Early Childhood Charter Schools, and is a mom to an active 2 year old daughter.  She enjoys spending time with her family and friends and traveling.

Ellen Blair, Science Resource Teacher

Ellen is the mother of two FLP grads.  She graduated from the College of William and Mary with a BA in English Literature and then from George Mason University with an M.Ed. in Special Education (Learning Disabilities.)    She taught in Arlington Public Schools for nine years and is thrilled to return to teaching at FLP!

Sue Campbell, Fours’ Assistant Teacher

Sue Campbell is returning to the teaching field after a ten year foray into retail.  She taught Environmental Science in Fairfax before running a home day care and continues her interest in gardening and the outdoors.  Originally from the Tidewater area, she has made her home in Arlington for the past twenty five years with her DC native husband Steve and two sons Brad and Jared.  Brad is off to college in the Fall and Jared is a rising Jr at HB Woodlawn.

Cynthia ErkenBrack, Threes’ Lead Teacher

The mother of three young adult sons, Cynthia, who has assisted in both the threes’ and fours’ classrooms here at FLP, finally has time to document her years of early childhood teaching experience and is presently obtaining her Early Childhood Education certification and degree.

Groovy Nate, Music Teacher
(Joined in 2015)
Groovy Nate is a children’s performer and Wolf Trap Teaching Artist who blends music, puppet skits, movement, and comedy into one groovy experience!  Nate also taught Music Together classes, and for the past nine years has performed at birthday parties in the DMV area.  Groovy Nate attended Howard University with a major in jazz studies and a minor in guitar.  Check out his website to learn more about him!

Lisa McKenzie, Fours’ Lead Teacher

The mother of one teenaged son, Lisa, a former Arlington County elementary school teacher, decided she enjoyed the “little ones” and came to us.  Lisa holds a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Learning Disabilities and a master’s degree in Education from Marymount University with concentration in Special Ed.

Trish Montgomery, Threes’ Assistant Teacher

Trish, a mother of two FLP grads and a health administration major from Penn State, has held every possible job here at Faith: mom, Parent Representative, FLP Board member, Before-School Care helper, substitute teacher and now her current position. What could be next!?

Rose Murphy, Fours’ Lead Teacher
(Joined in 2015)
Rose Murphy has 20 years of teaching experience in art and early childhood education. She received a degree in fine art and continues to take courses in early childhood education. Rose enjoys the creativity in open ended projects that provide the individually of each child. She has a special interest the Reggio Emilia approach and continues to learn about the philosophy and its many creative techniques. Rose lives with her husband and two teenage sons. She loves spending time with her family and Shih- poo, Lucy.

Chandra Olsson, Threes’ Lead Teacher

Chandra, the mother of two FLP grads, graduated from The University of Virginia with a BA in Sociology and then from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Masters in Social Work.  After enjoying many opportunities working with young children through co-op playgroups, volunteering as a room parent and other volunteer positions at her children’s elementary school, she is pursuing a new career with our amazing preschool population.

Penny Ott, Atelierista, Art Teacher

The mother of two FLP grads, freelance artist, and an Ohio native, Penny combines her professional expertise in design and commercial art, and her love of photography and multimedia to bring the arts to life at FLP.  Our artiste in residence, she designed the FLP logo and continues to create our supporting artwork.

Debbi Davis, Monkeys and Lizards Teacher

Debbi, the mother of two current FLP students, graduated from The University of Virginia with a BA in Psychology and a Masters of Teaching in General and Special Education. Over the years, Debbi has honed her craft as a Special Education Teacher in Alexandria and New York City, a Kindergarten Teacher in Dubai, and as a mother of four young children.

Anna Peterson, Three’s Assistant Teacher
(Joined in 2006)
The mother of four FLP grads, Anna (herself a graduate of George Mason University) is launching a new career in early childhood education as she juggles family and work demands!

    am a neighbor of your church/school. I have many VHS tapes of children’s programs (Charlie Brown, Madeleine, Rudolph etc). Are you interested in these tapes?

      Thank you for the offer but unfortunately, we don’t watch any electronics at the preschool so we wouldn’t have a need for the tapes. Thank you!
