Third Sunday after Pentecost

This week, we get two glimpses of what discipleship looks like. In Genesis, Abraham and Sarah provide hospitality to three strangers and from there God’s wild promises and laughter show up. In our gospel story, Jesus, moved by compassion, invites the disciples into the work of discipleship beginning in that same place of compassion. In community, these things are also here for us- hope, joy and laughter in unexpected places, wild promises and compassion from God for us and through us.

Accompanying Scripture:
Ezekiel 1:19-21, Psalm 100, Matthew 9:35—10:15
