Please Note: Saturday’s mulching event has been changed to Sunday, April 27th at 2 PM due to the forecast for rain and possible thunderstorms.

Welcome to Faith.

As life continues to be complex and complicated, we show up here at Faith Lutheran Church to be rooted in God’s love. We hope to be a community that reaches out beyond our roots to stretch our branches wide and share this wild, gracious, never ending love with the world around us.

Whether you have been Lutheran your whole life or you have never been to church before, you have a place here. Join us for worship on a Sunday morning or at another time to experience how deep and wide God’s love is for you and for your neighbor.

Join us for Worship

Join us for worship Sundays at 9:30 AM. The Sunday School meets at 10:30 AM. You can view the livestream at flcva.org/live or on Faith’s Facebook Live page. When you come for worship at Faith Lutheran you can expect to . . .

participate
We whole-heartedly believe worship is the work of all people. There will be spaces for you to participate in worship with your prayers, singing, and spoken responses. We have communion every week with options of wheat wafers, gluten free wafers, white grape juice and red wine. We practice an open table, meaning all are welcome to receive communion. We are casual. You are invited to come as you are and participate as you feel led.
experience beautiful music.
We love music. You will hear contemporary music with drums and bass alongside classical instrumental solos and traditional organ music. We appreciate high quality music and have paid section leaders on our worship staff. We also invite the congregation to participate too. We have a pop-up choir most weeks where you are invited to come at 8:45 AM to learn a piece of music to sing during the offertory.
be embraced by a little chaos.
Kids are fully welcome in worship and this means it can get a little noisy. We have a kids library in the front of our worship space, busy bags with small quiet toys and kids bulletins each week. The kids are also invited up front for a children’s message to hear the love of God at their level.
hear a word of grace.
We fully embrace being a part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and we hope you will experience God’s love and grace for you in worship. We are all saints and sinners and we lean into those baptismal promises to work for justice and peace and care for the world God has made. We hope you leave worship comforted by the unconditional love of God, as well as challenged to go out and do good out in the world.

Sanctuary Banners

The banners you see on either side of the organ in the sanctuary are from an art project created at Pastor CJ’s installation in September. It was designed and facilitated by Deacon Michelle Walka of Beloved Art and Practice.

The tree is a visible reminder of our mission statement – “Rooted and Reaching out in Love.” The beautifully painted leaves are our prayers for this faith community, our neighbors, and the world. The birds in the tree’s branches were created by Chica Brunsvold, member of Faith. Each bird is a reminder to us to those who find a home at Faith and also the ‘birds’ in the community that we support.
