Welcome Statement

At Faith Lutheran Church, we celebrate and give thanks for the many different gifts that God has bestowed on each of us as unique creations made in God’s own image.
We are called by Jesus to love God and one another. We reflect God’s boundless love in loving and serving our neighbors with open hearts.
As such, you are beloved, accepted, and affirmed here.
No matter who you are or where you are on your faith journey, we invite you to join us. We welcome, without limitation, people of every race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, marital or family status, ability or disability, and economic and social status.
We commit ourselves to supporting social and economic justice, environmental care, and anti-racism efforts as faithful responses to the call to love others and God’s beloved creation.
Christ’s message, the Gospel, is for everyone equally, and we strive to provide a nurturing and affirming setting in which all may gather, worship, and serve.
What to Expect
What do I wear?
Come as you are! At our services you’ll find everything from jeans and flip-flops to suits and ties.
Are children welcome?
Absolutely! We welcome young families, nursing parents, and children of all ages in all our services. We have a children’s library in the front of our worship space, busy bags with small quiet toys, and kids’ bulletins each week.
We offer respite care during worship – an (optional) opportunity for kiddos to adjourn, supervised, to another room so that parents can fully engage in worship.
What is worship like?
Worship in the Lutheran tradition includes much music and liturgy with confession and forgiveness, Bible readings, a short sermon, and communion at every service. You will experience:
- Ordained ministers and non-clergy volunteers leading worship.
- Participatory worship: Everyone in the congregation is given a bulletin that includes all the readings and hymns/ songs so you can easily follow along.
- Communion every week, open to anyone who wishes to partake.
- Traditional hymns as well as newer music. We often welcome guest musicians.
Is the church accessible?
Yes! The accessible ramp and entrance to Faith is at the rear (north side) of the church, and can be entered from the sidewalk along Jackson St. This door takes you to our fellowship hall, where you can follow signs through a short hallway to the sanctuary.
We also offer auditory aids to anyone who needs them. Please let an usher know if you need support.
Have a need not listed? Please let us know how we can welcome and support you.

Where We Gather
Faith Lutheran Church is in the heart of Arlington, Virginia, across the Potomac River from Washington D.C. and minutes away from Alexandria and Falls Church, Virginia.
Where to Park and Enter Faith for Worship
We have two parking lots and lots of doors at Faith! You can park in either lot – there is one in front of the church facing Arlington Blvd. and one on Jackson Street a half block up from Arlington Blvd., on the left. From the front lot, you may access the sanctuary for worship through the wooden doors facing Arlington Blvd. The entrance to Faith Lutheran Preschool is the double glass doors facing the front parking lot, which will be locked on Sunday mornings.
If you are parked in the rear lot, you may enter the church for worship through the double doors facing Jackson St. This will take you into our fellowship hall, where you can follow signs through a short hallway to the sanctuary.
