Member and Community Announcements

  • County Fair Hydration Station

The annual Arlington County Fair is just around the corner, starting Thursday, Aug. 13th. This year we will be providing free chilled water bottles, fans and freeze pops to Fair attendees walking by the Faith property on Thursday-Saturday 3:30-6:30 PM and Sunday, 11:30-1:30 PM. Sign up for a shift below! If you would like to donate a flat or two of full-sized water bottles and/or popsicles, drop them off at the church beforehand. We will be adding Faith Lutheran Church labels to the bottles and make posters following worship on Sunday, Aug. 9th. All are invited to stay after church to help with this project!

  • Holy Spirit Selfies

Whether you are going on a global adventure or just headed to the pool, may you know that the Holy Spirit, our comforter and advocate, goes with you. To celebrate summer, we are inviting y’all to take a selfie with the Holy Spirit and share it with us via email or on social media and tag us at #flcarlington. You can grab a water bottle sticker or colorable Holy Spirit sheet from Pastor CJ.

  • Worship Assistants Needed

The council has a renewed focus on congregational engagement – especially with worship leaders. You are invited to prayerfully reflect on ways you would enjoy serving on Sunday mornings – lighting candles, reading, assisting with communion, greeting and ushering. We are hoping to get 100% congregational participation.

  • Faith Day at Nats Park!

The Washington Nationals contacted the synod office last week to say Faith Day has changed from August 8 to August 29 and the game time will be 4:05 p.m. For anyone who has already purchased tickets, you will be contacted separately by the Nationals to see if you’d like to keep your original date or change to the new one.

All are invited to join congregations from across the Metro D.C. Synod for Faith Day at Nationals Park: an evening of baseball, fellowship, and community connection. Come cheer on the Washington Nationals as they take on the Miami Marlins on Saturday, August 29th at 4:05 PM. Tickets are just $32/person and limited to section 407. Contact the office to make sure we get tickets together!

  • Labor Day Retreat

Georgetown Lutheran Church (DC) & Faith Lutheran Church (Arlington) invite their members/community to join for a Labor Day weekend retreat at Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp in Fort Valley, VA. Starting Saturday, Sept. 5th – arrive in the morning – and concluding after lunch Monday, Sept. 7th. We’ll play, pray, relax, retreat, cook, and worship together. A wide range of activities is available and nature trails and lots to explore on the beautiful camp property in Fort Valley. Some planned activities may include canoeing, hikes, field games, campfire, prayer walks, devotional time, crafts, and free time to really retreat and relax! Cost: $150 per person or $400 maximum per family. Partial or day registrations also available.

Note that there is not cell service generally on camp property, but there is WIFI in select buildings – so come be truly away! Sunday morning worship will be held weather permitting outdoors, or indoors if needed in the historic St. John’s chapel by the natural spring. Pastor Brett Wilson (GLC) and Pastor CJ Valenti (FLC) will both attend. Register today by completing the form here and secure your spot.

  • Summer Giving

You might be going away for the summer, but Faith’s ministries won’t! Before you head out of town, consider setting up online, regular and recurring donations to Faith. This way you’ll keep putting your faith into action and creating financial stability. It’s as simple as downloading the Faith app (if you haven’t already!) where you can find our Pushpay online giving platform or use the QR code or link below and click on “set up recurring.” Your gifts are greatly appreciated and go a long way to helping us with our mission of being rooted and reaching out in love.

  • XYZ Group Lunch

Join the XYZ Group (extra years of zest!) for lunch at noon on Tuesday, July 28th at Metro 29 Diner on Langston Blvd.
