Congregational Meeting to Consider New Co-Pastor for Faith!
A special meeting of the congregation will be held TODAY at 12:15 p.m. to consider the Church Council’s recommendation to call The Rev. Katherine (Kate) A. Davidson to be co-pastor of Faith Lutheran Church. All confirmed members are asked to come to this important meeting of the congregation.
Mission of the Month: Arlington Free Clinic
The Arlington Free Clinic (AFC) provides free, high-quality medical care to low-income, uninsured Arlington County adults through the generosity of donors and volunteers. All patients live in Arlington County and have incomes at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Although most of their patients work, their jobs do not include access to health insurance. In recent years, an increasing number of new patients came to the AFC after losing their jobs and their insurance.
You can give to the mission of the month by using the special mission offering envelopes in the pews, online at www.flcva.org, or by scanning the QR code on the back of this bulletin.
First Communion Classes Continue On Saturday
Just a reminder to parents: the second half of First Communion instruction will take place this coming Saturday, June 11, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. The children will be baking the bread used for their First Communion next Sunday, June 12. For more information, or to sign up, please contact Pastor Yvette at email@example.com
More work days are planned for Saturdays, June 4, July 2, August 6, September 3 and October 1. This year, we’ll be setting up a “farm market” one Sunday per month, May – August, to sell extra produce at church. For details, and to sign up to help out with the garden, visit www.flcva.org/garden.
Vacation Bible School – July 11 – 15
The VBS Staff is busy getting ready to catch the wave of God’s amazing love. Please help us “build” our surf shack! If you have any of the following items to donate or loan, we will happily accept:
• Tiki torches
• Hawaiian / beachy décor
• Surf or boogie boards
• Aquatic stuffed animals (fish, crabs, dolphins, etc)
We are still looking for at least one more adult who can be available to teach all of the days. If you’re able, please contact Mary Q.
Summertime with Families of Faith
Faith’s Family Friday Potlucks will be taking a break this summer, June-August. Please join us for our church picnic on Sunday afternoon, July 17, and stay tuned for more details on an outdoor movie night and family play date.
Village of Hope Mission Trip Opportunity
Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church (in Haymarket) is planning a mission trip to the Village of Hope in Haiti, September 24 – 30. They still have a few slots open! If you’re interested in joining the group for this trip, please contact Jill Z.
