Plot Against Hunger
In 2012, Faith teamed up with the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) and Home Depot to install a vegetable garden. In 2012, more than 50 lbs of produce were harvested and donated to our local food pantry. Since 2012, and with grantsĀ from Arlington County, Faith has been able to expand the garden, install a rain barrel and irrigation system, and offer workshops about the importance (and fun) of taking care of God’s creation. Each year we learn something new, and our harvests are now so plentiful, that we will begin selling the extra produce on Sunday mornings.
This year, the Sunday School classes are starting the seedlings indoors. The seeds were blessed, have been planted in soil, and will be tended by the children until they are ready to be transplanted. We’re so excited to watch them (the seeds and the children) grow together!
