Anchored

Pastor Kate revisits a time in her life when she was almost swept away by the wind and her need to have something else anchor her down – just as baptism is the anchor for our lives, especially in the midst of racism and Charlottesville.

Part of Such Great Things: Water, Bread & Wine – A sermon series on the sacraments in the Lutheran tradition.

Accompanying Scripture:
Psalm 46
Acts 2:37-42

Living Pentecost

God, in his birthing of the church at this first Pentecost event, did not erase our differences. What I believe in my entire being, is that god invites us to celebrate what makes us so unique and amazingly different.

Being different is something that we do not need to ever fix. God joins us in the midst of our human messiness and continues to light a path for the prophets to lead the church. Today, that is you and that is me.

Guest Preacher:
Deacon Christine P. Connell
Chief Executive Officer
Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area

Accompanying Scripture:
Acts 2:1-21
